Rite of Election 2022

The Rite of Election has been an annual event in the Archdiocese of Dublin. It’s the joyful moment in the Church’s year when adults who have been preparing for baptism, confirmation and eucharist are formally called by name by the Archbishop. This year 14 people from the parish communities of the Archdiocese were called by Archbishop Dermot Farrell to complete their initiation at the Easter Vigil in their parishes. This is a great sign of hope, these adults are positively choosing to become Catholic. The Rite of Election took place in the Pro-Cathedral on Sunday the 6th March at 3.30pm.

“For you, catechumens, Lent is a time of final preparations for that day, the day of your rebirth in Christ. Lent then becomes an intense time when we walk with you, pray for you and allow ourselves to be more and more led by the Spirit.” – Archbishop Dermot Farrell
