New Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization appointed.

A new Episcopal Vicar for Evangelization has been appointed in the Archdiocese of Dublin, the first
appointment of its kind in the history of the Diocese.
The new Episcopal vicar is the Very Rev Fr. Ciaran O’ Carroll. He will head up a major programme of evangelization in the Dublin Diocese, first announced on Holy Thursday by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin.
Archbishop Martin has invited all 200 Dublin parishes to join in a common programme of missionary outreach and evangelization for the year 2009.  The new office, headed up by Fr. O Carroll, lead this extensive project, co-coordinating the work of education in the faith, liturgical and scriptural animation, outreach to young people, and work for justice and charity.
Archbishop Martin said that one of the priorities for the new office will be the Evangelization of the family, the fundamental base for passing on the faith to young children.
Currently parish priest of Saggart, Fr. Ciaran O’ Carroll is one of the country’s leading experts in Ecclesiastical History and has been the author of several publications on the subject. He has studied at Holy Cross College, Clonliffe, UCD and the Gregorian University in Rome. He has served in four Dublin parishes, and has been Parish Priest of Saggart for the past four years. He was a member of the Council of Holy Cross College, Santa Sabina Secondary School and the Dublin Diocesan Heritage Commission. Since 2000 he has been administrator of the Dublin Diocesan Office for Causes.  ENDS
