14/01/08 Dublin Priest appointed Monsignor

Pope Benedict XVI has nominated a priest of the Archdiocese of Dublin working in the service of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in the Vatican, Father John Kennedy, a Chaplain of Honour to the Pope, with the title Monsignor.

        Monsignor Kennedy is a native of Clontarf, Dublin, and has been working with the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith for five years, beginning his service under the then Prefect, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI.

        Monsignor Kennedy was ordained in 1993 and worked in Crumlin and Francis Street parishes before undertaking post graduate studies in Canon Law in Rome in 1998.  He entered the service of the Holy See in September 2002.
