Imposition of the Pallium on Archbishop Farrell

On Saturday 7th August at the 6:00 PM Vigil Mass in the Pro-Cathedral Archbishop Okolo, the Apostolic Nuncio, on behalf of Pope Francis, will impose the Pallium on Archbishop Dermot Farrell as Metropolitan.

A Pallium is a vestment made of lamb’s wool and is blessed by the Pope on the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul.  It consists of a narrow circular band placed around the shoulders with a short lappet hanging from the front and back.  When worn over Mass vestments, the Pallium symbolises an Archbishop’s communion with the Bishop of Rome and his authority and responsibility to care for the flock entrusted to him.

Archbishop Farrell will be the principal celebrant and homilist.  The Mass will be concelebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio and  Bishop Denis Nulty representing the Suffragan Sees of Kildare & Leighlin and Ossory.

Public Health Guidelines restrict numbers attending to two pods of 50 with social distancing measures in place.

The Mass can be viewed live stream on the following link
