Sincere thanks to all those who supported this years Parish Food appeal.
An extraordinary 13 tonnes of food has been collected for distribution to families most in need at this time.
Thanks also to the many, many people who gave up their time to help out at the main Crosscare Foodbank in Glasnevin, sorting the donated food and preparing hampers.
December 1st
Archbishop Martin is once again seeking support for a Parish Food Appeal next weekend December 1st to support the work of the Crosscare Foodbanks.
The generosity of parishioners in last year’s food appeal meant that 10,000 emergency hampers were distributed to those most in need before Christmas. Crosscare work with many individuals and families throughout the Archdiocese who are struggling to make ends meet. The Food Banks provide support with essential food and household items.
This year Crosscare are asking that collections be held on one weekend only on Sunday December 1st . This will allow them to distribute hampers in good time for Christmas to hundreds of families.
Items that are most needed at this time are:
- Toiletries and cleaning products
- Non-perishable food
- Festive foods
Please invite parishioners this weekend to bring items on December 1st.
Those parishes who are planning to run the Food Appeal can contact Crosscare (contact details below) to make any necessary local arrangements.
Where possible, Parishes are asked to consider delivering items collected directly to their nearest Crosscare Foodbank.
Foodbanks are operating in the following areas:
- Brackenstown
- Darndale
- Glasnevin
- Blanchardstown
- Dundrum
- Jobstown
- Dun Laoghaire
