As Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Dublin, I am pleased to welcome the appointment of Monsignor Dermot Farrell as new Bishop of Ossory.  I join with clergy and the entire diocesan community of Ossory in welcoming their new pastor.  I wish Bishop-elect Farrell every blessing and personal happiness and invoke the guidance of the Holy Spirit on his new mission.  At this moment, I remember with gratitude, Bishop Laurence Forristal and Bishop Seamus Freeman, the new bishop’s immediate predecessors, for their dedication over many years.  ENDS
