APPLICATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT FUNDING
The O’Brien Educational Trust Fund is managed by the Trustees of the Archdiocese of Dublin. The purpose of the fund is to help defray the costs of education and maintenance of disadvantaged children. The Trustees consider applications from schools, parents and organisations who deal with the education of disadvantaged children.
Among the main beneficiaries in the recent past have been Deis Schools (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools). These are schools, identified by Department of Education, who require policy instruments to address educational disadvantage to prioritise the educational needs of children and young people from disadvantaged communities, from pre-school through second-level education.
The Trustees of the O’ Brien Education Trust Fund do not limit support to Deis Schools and applications are also invited from the wider educational community.
In the past, the O’ Brien Fund has donated funds to support the development of psychological assessments, information technology equipment, music equipment, sensory equipment, an all-weather pitch, books and after-school projects and activities.
