Share Sunday Financial Statements & Annual Report 2018
MESSAGE FROM ARCHBISHOP DIARMUID MARTIN
Sunday November 24th 2019
“Share, the Diocesan Development Fund, is founded on the ideas of communion and sharing that are at the heart of the Christian life.
During the rapid geographic expansion of the Dublin Diocese in the 1970’s, Share was introduced to pool financial resources so that new communities could build Churches, schools and accommodation for priests. In recent years, the needs of the diocese have become more varied. Today, in addition to supporting poorer parishes, Share also funds pastoral supports for mission and evangelisation through services provided to parishes by our Diocesan Offices and Agencies.
Parishes need the support of a network of human resource management to facilitate them to function effectively. The Office for Evangelisation is reaching out in a special way to young people. The Child Safeguarding and Protection Office provides education in child protection for parishes. We need to develop new programmes for training and the formation of the many laypeople who contribute to the life of the diocese. I am encouraged by the growing participation of lay people in the mission of the Church of Jesus Christ. I see in this a renewed sense of sharing and communion.
I would also like to thank those who serve on parish and diocesan Finance Committees and who assist in the raising, monitoring and controlling of expenditure of parish and diocesan funds.
You, the people of the diocese have been very generous over these years in supporting Share even at moments of serious economic difficulties for families and communities. I thank you for that generosity and I encourage you to continue in the coming year in the support you have given to Share.”
Annual Report
The Annual Report for 2018 looks at the activities taking place in parishes and the assistance and advice provided to parishes by Diocesan Support Services. Also included are statistical updates on the work of our Child Safeguarding and Protection Service.

Share Newsletter
Share Sunday is when parishioners are reminded of the work made possible by their donations to the second collection at Masses. The following newsletter was distributed in Churches today with information specific to Share.
*Note regarding Religious Order Parishes
There are eight parishes listed in the financial statements excluded from the Combined Parish Accounts. The physical assets such as churches in these parishes are managed by the relevant religious order and these orders also have their own charitable registration with the Charities Regulatory Authority. The Religious Orders will complete their own reporting for the Charities Regulatory Authority.
