HOLY WEEK 2021 LITURGY RESOURCES:

The National Centre for Liturgy invited Dioceses around Ireland to collate what they tried as they celebrated Holy Week during the first lockdown in 2020 and consider worth sharing with others as we face into celebrating Holy Week under similar restrictions in 2021. Attached is a PDF is the responses and resources from 16 Diocese including our own. They focus on 3 areas: Holy Week, its liturgies and devotions in the parish church, moments of prayer and ritual in the home, and visits to the church when it’s open for private prayer. It’s well worth exploring in depth.

Our Lady of Good Counsel, Mourne Road, Drimnagh, Dublin 12 – Sacred Spaces during Lent.

Theme: Finding Christian Hope and Faith in a time of great human suffering’ through the eyes of the great Biblical character Job,  the wonderful mystic Julian of Norwich, the extraordinary Dorothy Day and the incomparable Oscar Romero and lastly our current Holy Father, Pope Francis. So in this Lenten Season we are creating a number of online Sacred Spaces every Friday from 8.15-9.00pm, taking our examples from these great spiritual icons. As we reflect on their lives and wisdom and spiritual growth through times of adversity, we will Expose the Blessed Sacrament to remind ourselves that the Lord is with us in this time of hurt, loss and suffering. Each evening will be a time quietly spent in prayer which will finish with a short benediction.  We invite you to join in for this sacred time. The webcam can be accessed via the Parish website www.mourneroad.ie

TROCAIRE LENTEN CAMPAIGN 2021

Lent is an extremely important time of year for Trócaire. The organisation relies heavily on the income that comes in during Lent through the generosity of schools and parishes. The ongoing lockdown presents different challenges especially in relation to the distribution of Lenten Boxes. Parishes and schools are encouraged to make Trócaire boxes available in a way that is safe and in line with government guidelines. Each parish is invited to use the available Lenten Mass talk in homilies during Lent, if Trócaire could be highlighted in one weekend over Lent it would be most helpful. A script is available on the Trócaire website.

This year Trocaire’s Lenten Campaign will focus on exploring the Impact of Conflict on Families in South Sudan. This Lent, we learn more about the suffering of people who have lost their homes and loved ones to war, and how they are rebuilding their lives through love, friendship and solidarity. This year’s Lenten Campaign focuses on Awut and Ajak, two women brought together by the horror of war. Their solidarity is an example of what Pope Francis tells us in his recent encyclical, Fratelli. At a time of great uncertainty and fear, it reminds us to always work together to protect the most vulnerable. https://www.trocaire.org/our-work/working-in-ireland/parishes/resources/

This year, cardinal Luis Tagle will deliver the Trócaire and St. Patrick’s College Maynooth annual lecture online on 9 March 2021 at 18.30.

Parish resources are now available at Parishes – Resources | Trócaire (trocaire.org)
