Pontifical Honours for Dublin Priests

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has announced the nomination by Pope Benedict XVI of a number of Prelates of Honour and of Chaplains to His Holiness with the title Monsignor in the Archdiocese of Dublin.

Archbishop Martin expressed his gratitude to Pope Benedict for this recognition of the service and ministry of a group of priests of the diocese, with responsibility in the diocesan administration but particularly for priests who have been exemplary in their ministry in parochial work over many years.

Pope Benedict has appointed the following Prelates of Honour with the title Right Rev. Monsignor:

1.      Right. Rev Monsignor  Lorcan O’Brien, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia;
2.      Right Rev Monsignor. John Fitzpatrick, P.P. Sutton and Episcopal Vicar;
3.      Right. Rev. Monsignor Enda Lloyd, P.P.. Greystones and Episcopal Vicar;
4.      Right Rev. Monsignor. Eoin Thynne, Chief Chaplain to the Defence Forces
                                   
In addition Pope Benedict XVI has appointed the following as Chaplain to His Holiness with the title Very Reverend Monsignor:

5.      V. Rev. Monsignor Colm Gallagher, P.P.  Arklow;                 
6.      V. Rev. Monsignor Donal O’Doherty, P.P. Dundrum;                          
7.      V. Rev. Monsignor Thomas Stack, P.P., Milltown;                 
8.      V. Rev. Monsignor John Deasy, P.P. Crumlin;                                   
9.      V. Rev. Monsignor Patrick Finn, P.P., Haddington Road;
10.    V. Rev. Monsignor Dermot Clarke, P.P. Aughrim Street;
