Statement on Murphy Commission – Supplementary Report
08/12/2011
The Archdiocese of Dublin treats information it receives regarding abuse in a confidential manner, out of respect to all involved.
Regarding the naming of individuals who were the subject of investigations by the Murphy Commission, the Archdiocese has not disclosed the identity of anyone whom the Commission decided it itself could not name in its reports.
Matters which were the subject of the supplementary report by the Commission are now the subject of the ongoing investigation by An Gardai, led by Asst. Commissioner John O’ Mahony.
As we have stated on many occasions, information on suspicions and allegations of abuse is shared with An Garda Siochana, through the Safeguarding and Child Protection Office. This is the case, regardless of whether the person accused is dead or alive. Where the accused is alive, information is also shared with the Health Service Executive .
